Lesson Policies at Schultz Strings

Schultz Strings attempts to keep its fees as low as possible. Your cooperation with the following policies will ensure efficient business
procedures at minimum cost.

• TUITION: Monthly tuition is based on a 45-week year. We do not schedule lessons for 7 weeks each year as these are used for teacher breaks and/or make-up lessons. In the long months, you will get five lessons and in short months, you will get three lessons. Most months you will get four lessons. The tuition is the SAME each month; i.e. we don’t charge you more when you have five lessons, and we don’t charge you less when you have three lessons in a month. This makes everyone’s accounting easier. Tuition entitles a student to scheduled lessons. The full fee is paid whether or not the student attends all lessons, no credits or refunds will be given for student absences. Notification of inability to attend a lesson is appreciated, but does not excuse payment for lessons.
   
• BILLING: All payments are processed by pre-authorized credit cards or auto draft from checking accounts on the first of the month. Any NSF ACH transactions will be charged a $25 fee. If payment is not received by the 10th of the month a $10 late fee will be assessed. Tuition is never prorated for missed lessons. Schultz Strings does not generally send invoices or statements. 
   
• CANCELLATION POLICY: If the teacher needs to miss a lesson, the lesson will be made-up. If a student needs to miss a lesson, a make-up lesson is not guaranteed and will not be refunded. It may be possible to swap lessons with another student or do a virtual lesson, please contact the teacher to inquire about options. 
   
• MAKE-UP LESSONS: Make-Up lessons will be given when appropriate and in collaboration with the lesson teacher. There will be seven (7) scheduled break weeks during the year which may or may not be utilized as make-up lessons. Teachers may choose to take a week off instead of scheduling make-up lessons during that time.

    • Spring Break (Cedar Rapids)
    • Memorial Day Week
    • July 4th Week
    • Labor Day Week
    • Thanksgiving Week
    • Christmas/New Year (2 weeks)
       
• SUMMER VACATION: Schultz Strings operates year-round and does not close for the summer. We are happy to work with families utilizing the make-up weeks as available and possible. Your payment is still due on the first of the month to reserve your lesson space.
   
• DISCONTINUING: To discontinue lessons and to discontinue charges to your account, we need to know before the 15th of your last month. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons. There will be no refunds for make-up lessons on the account.
  • Contact Schultz Strings if there are concerns with a specific teacher. You may find switching teachers is helpful.
     
• SPECIAL LESSON PLANS: Depending on the teacher, your lesson schedule, monthly rates, and plan may vary slightly.
   
• MEDIA RELEASE: Occasionally students and parents will be photographed, or video recorded during the course of typical lesson and recital activities.  Schultz Strings reserves the right to use these photos and video recordings in marketing, social media, print media, websites, and other related media.
   
• QUESTIONS: If you have any questions or concerns about your lessons, we encourage you to discuss them with your teacher first.

Note: Bi-Weekly lessons are available ONLY under special circumstances when the teacher and family agree.
